I was hooked on photography when I picked up my parents' old manual Minolta x370 in high school and discovered the power contained inside that little box of metal, plastic and glass. Through two colleges, a semester in Costa Rica, a year of community organizing, 3 months hitchhiking through South America, hundreds of protests and a few large clouds of tear gas, that little camera was always by my side. |
When I discovered that I could combine my talents in photography with my desire to work for social change I knew photojournalism was the field for me. |
These days, armed with a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Texas-Austin, I am happy shooting just about anything - from dog shows to revivals. Finding the story-telling moment is a challenge of which I never tire. My heart lies in documentary photojournalism, and in-depth documentary projects are my passion. |
